Post subject: Do Muslims Observe the Sabbath?
Dear Brother Ahmed, Sir

I would like to know whether at any time Muslims observed the Sabbath in the past.

If so, from which point onwards did they start to observe Friday instead of Saturday as their weekly Day of Prayer.

The Jews are supposed to rest on their Sabbath.

Is REST mandatory for Muslims too?

Is it possible that at one time they observed the Sabbath until may be a decree either by the Koran or from the Holy Prophet told them to observe Friday instead.

Keeping in view that the Sabbath actually began on a Friday evening, because the Jewish days were from evening to evening, may be it is actually the Muslims who are keeping the true Sabbath.

In that case the Sabbath begins immediately after the Friday afternoon prayer, and the Muslims ought not to go to work until the Sabbath ends the next day.

I wonder, what the actual practice is in Saudi Arabia?

Love,

It never happened nor Friday is an offical Islamic weekend, Friday was just chosen by the Islamic governments to make it easy for Muslims to pray the Friday Prayer

however many Muslim work on Fridays and they just take a break for the Friday prayer

Muslims don't rest on Fridays, it is just a human made week end

Love,

Actually my mother lives there, there are millions of Muslims who work on Fridays on S A, in fact all those who run their own businesses like restuarants for example always work on Fridays
